Beginner Ensemble Music
BegEnz Book 1 - a new concept for ensemble playing for beginner harpists. Each of the 16 pieces in this book has a version one, which is an easy solo version of the tune, a version two - slightly harder, and a version three - harder again, or accompaniment. And they all sound great together. The beginner harpist can play as much or little as they like when playing with other harpists, and still get to develop their ensemble skills. And ..... the teacher never has to reinvent the wheel to make new beginner music interesting. $20 NZ

Turtle Time
A sweet, dreamy little duet for two beginner harpists - one plays the tune, one plays accompaniment (accomp looks tricky, but its really only alternating between two chords in different patterns). In the key of C, no lever changes. Imagine turtles drifting around Turtle Lake, in the Hamilton Gardens. Score and parts included $5 NZ |

"Arrane y Chlean" (Manx) and "Little Birds" (Irish) are two very sweet songs which have been arranged for a harp quartet featuring two beginner parts and two late beginner parts. There is a lever change or two between the two tunes, and a bridge passage of sound board tapping while parts 3 and 4 change their levers. The melody, harmonies and accompaniment are shared around between all four parts.

Pokarekare Ana - a beautiful love song, lyrics in Maori. There is an English translation, but it doesn't flow as beautifully the Maori lyrics do. Gently flowing harp accompaniment. In the key of C, 2 pages, for beginner harpist and singer. Score only $5 NZ These are two lovely jigs - "Elizabeth Kelly's Delight" is a lovely slow jig and is here as a solo versions, which then moves into page two - "Billy Rourke is the Boy", which can be taken at a slightly faster speed, but in this case is written for harp duo - one accompaniment, and one with the tune. As mentioned on the score, 'The Gloaming' do a fantastic version of these two jigs!! You can make these two tunes run for a good long time by swapping parts between harps! It's great fun and gorgeous to play! Key of Bb major and then F, with plenty of time to change E levers if needed. Score and parts included $6 Bendemeer's Stream is an arrangement for two harps, of a beautiful old Irish tune which first had words added by Thomas Moore, and then by Percy French, and renamed "The Mountains of Mourne". In this arrangement, I started by writing for solo harp, but then ended up with an arrangement that also added in a second harp part. Of course the solo part can be played in unison, with the harpists playing separate parts fo the second time through. Written in the key of G major, the arrangement includes: harmonics, no lever changes. The first sample here is the solo harp, and the second is the duo arrangement. Score and parts included $8 |
